What is Dry Needling?

A focused way to release tight muscle bands.

Dry needling is a physiotherapy technique that uses fine, sterile, single-use filament needles to target myofascial trigger points and tight muscle bands. It differs from acupuncture in its anatomical reasoning and clinical use. Most patients tolerate it well, and it is used as part of a broader treatment plan that includes movement and exercise.

Switch off pain at the source, not the symptom

Dry needling by trained physios for chronic muscle pain, sports injuries and myofascial trigger points.

How It Helps

Five ways dry needling helps recovery

Most patients notice a shift after 1–3 sessions when needling is paired with the right exercise plan.

Our Approach

How we practice dry needling

Strict hygiene, gentle technique, clear consent. Always integrated into a wider plan.

01

Sterile, Single-Use Needles

Every needle is single-use and disposed of safely. We follow strict infection-control protocols.

02

Trigger-Point Targeting

Needles are placed precisely into identified taut bands — not used as a generic insertion.

03

Manual Therapy Pairing

Needling is followed by movement and manual work to consolidate the gain.

04

Safety-First Screening

We screen carefully for bleeding disorders, anticoagulant use, and pregnancy before treating.

Your First Visit

What happens during your first dry needling session in Mumbai

Dry needling is only used after a full assessment confirms it is appropriate — never as a first-line technique.

01

Health History & Goals

Our physiotherapists begin by understanding your medical history, current symptoms, and recovery goals.

Clinical Assessment

A structured physical examination identifies the source of pain, mobility limits, and contributing factors.

Personalised Plan

We design a treatment plan suited to your condition, age, and lifestyle — not a template program.

04

My mother has been visiting VRX Goregaon for arthritis and joint-pain sessions. The staff is patient, the centre is clean and well-maintained, and the pricing is transparent exactly what we were looking for.

Have visited multiple physio centres, but the depth of attention at VRX is genuinely different. They actually adapt the plan as you progress instead of giving everyone the same routine.

Frequently Asked

Dry needling questions, answered

What it is, who it suits, what it feels like, and what to expect afterwards.

No. Dry needling uses similar fine needles, but the clinical reasoning is anatomical and based on physiotherapy assessment, not traditional Chinese medicine principles.
Most patients feel a brief twitch or ache when the needle reaches the tight muscle band. Sensation is short-lived and usually well tolerated.
In trained physiotherapy hands, yes. We use single-use sterile needles and screen for bleeding disorders, anticoagulants and pregnancy before treating.
Many patients see meaningful change within 1–3 sessions. A typical course is 3–6 sessions paired with an exercise plan.
Tension headaches, neck and back pain, tennis/golfer’s elbow, plantar fasciitis and certain sports injuries are among the most common indications.
Mild post-treatment soreness, occasional bruising and short-term tiredness are the most common side effects. They usually settle within 24–48 hours.
Patients on certain anticoagulants, with bleeding disorders, severe needle phobia, infection at the planned site, or first-trimester pregnancy concerns are screened carefully.
Light activity is usually fine. We advise avoiding high-intensity exercise on the same day to let the area settle.
Where dry needling is included in a physiotherapy plan, it is generally covered by insurance plans that cover physio.
Yes, when an in-person assessment confirms dry needling is appropriate and safe to deliver at home.
